Protocol

  • What belongs in the protocol?
  • The protocol should, firstly, provide a detailed chronological record of the class taught, of no longer than 1-2 pages, covering the points time - phase - teacher activity - student activity - use of media. It should furthermore contain an evaluation of the class that was observed, also of around 1-2 pages.

Protocols must consist of complete sentences, written out in full!

An aid to orientation is provided by a small form intended to make it easier to record the course of the lesson. Just filling out this piece of paper however will not be sufficient.

Because in past semesters students have increasingly missed the arranged practice classroom teaching sessions and hence failed to meet the required total number of practice classroom teaching sessions, we have unfortunately been forced to make the documentation of all practice classroom teaching undertaken compulsory from now on. To this end, a form to provide evidence that the practice classroom teaching has actually taken place has been created, on which all six sessions are to be signed by the teacher concerned. This form is to be handed to Ms Clemens together with the three protocols.

  • When and where do I hand in the protocol?
  • Protocols must be handed in to module teaching staff to be signed within two weeks after a session.

  • What happens then?
  • Once you have written all three protocols and they have been signed by teaching staff, hand these in IN A SEALED ENVELOPE together with the evidence form just mentioned to Ms Clemens in office hours or in the Secretariat. Don't forget to write your name on the protocol. Protocols handed in separately will be rejected!
Further information can be obtained at the information event, which will probably take place in the first week of the semester. The exact date will be made public well in advance.

In the summer holidays (July to September) you can obtain teaching practice in the courses listed below (please note that different conditions apply for practice classroom teaching in such courses, for more details see here):
