Admission application

In addition to the admission application signed by the applicants themselves (foreign applicants should use the formula which can be downloaded from the address https://immatrikulation.zvw.unigoettingen.de/immatrikulation_ib.html, German applicants simply apply in writing), the following documents must accompany the application:

a) The degree certificate(s) of the applicant in the form of officially certified transcripts or, if the original is not in English or German, officially certified translations into English or German. If no degree certificate is available at the time of application, a statement of grades achieved in previous examinations must be supplied. The degree certificate must be submitted as soon as it becomes available. If no degree certificate has been submitted by the time that admissions are decided on, the applicant will be excluded from the remaining admission process.

b) A curriculum vitae/résumé in table form accompanied by a convincing presentation of the educational background of the applicant and a recent photo.

c) If the native language of the applicant is not German, proof of sufficient knowledge of the German language.

d) An declaration of whether the applicant has previously attempted, successfully or unsuccessfully, or failed to complete a Masters Program in the area "Intercultural German Studies / German as a Foreign Language".

e) A written description of the applicant's motivation for undertaking the program and their research interests.

f) Where appropriate, employers' references or evidence of other practical experience, achievements outside tertiary education which are relevant to the studies, or particular subject-area knowledge indicating the suitability of the applicant for the program of study (eg teaching experience with foreign languages, work placements/internships in the areas of language and culture mediation, a bachelor's thesis on a theme relevant to the studies, experience in a foreign country relevant to the studies or a study semester spent at a foreign university, social engagement for intercultural/international cooperation or understanding, particular language skills, scholarships and awards within the context of the study program).
