In its new structure the Metropolitan Region Hannover Braunschweig Göttingen Wolfsburg GmbH serves as an optimal platform for further networking between universities and research institutions. It can also be used for active fostering collaboration with companies in Lower Saxony.

The Metropolitan Region Hannover Braunschweig Göttingen is one of eleven german Metropolitan Region with european importance.

Part of this community are communes, companies, associations of economy, universities, academic organizations and the state of Lower Saxony. The university of Göttingen currently is in the chair of the association „universities and research institutions in the Metropolitan Region Hannover Braunschweig Göttingen Wolfsburg“.
