Important Information: DAAD Funding Advice Service paused
The DAAD Funding Advice Service of the University of Göttingen has been paused. For DAAD applications that require the approval of the university administration or the approval of the dean's office, please contact Dr. Esther von Richthofen at daad-hochschulprogramme@uni-goettingen.de.
The dean's office must approve if:
- the proposed project effects the faculty's regular teaching activities (this may also require the approval of the faculty council),
- the proposed project includes a faculty contribution to the project (financial/personnel),
- the application is submitted by an emeritus professor or an "apl" professor, or
- the application is submitted by a member of the University of Göttingen whose employment at the university is expected to end during the planned project period.

Hinweis: Value limit for direct contracts has been raised temporarily
On 18 March 2026, the DAAD informed the universities that, in deviation from the regulation in the underlying forwarding agreement (in some cases still referred to as a grant agreement), the value limit for direct contracts (Section 14 UVgO) in the context of grants will be raised from 1,000 euros (excluding VAT) to 15,000 euros (excluding VAT) from funds of the Federal Foreign Office and Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space for a limited period until 31 December 2027. This regulation will initially also apply to forwarding contracts concluded in the course of the 2026 and 2027 financial years. The direct contracts are to be awarded in accordance with the principles of efficiency and economy.

Since 9 March 2022, the DAAD recommends all DAAD funded persons to depart from the Russian Federation and to return to Germany.

In order to support universities in implementing their own internationalization strategies and to intensify the development and expansion of international university partnerships, the DAAD offers a wide range of initiatives and formats.

General advice for applicants
Please note that DAAD proposals, which require the approval of the presidential board of the university, need to be forwarded to Göttingen International at least 2 weeks before the application deadline. This is necessary in order to review the proposal according to the regulations of the call and to ensure that the approval of the presidential board of the university can be obtained in time.Proposals which involve changes to curriculum incl. study programmes, require co-funding with university funds, or make necessary a success arrangement, require the dean’s approval. Proposals by members of the central administration require the approval by the Vice-President for Finance and Human Resources. In such cases, please get in touch at the earliest convenience.
Furthermore, applicants are requested to add the university's advisory for DAAD higher education programmes as project assistantship. For this, please use the following functional email address daad-hochschulprogramme@uni-goettingen.de.
Furthermore, it should be noted that the relevant bank account details of the university must be provided when submitting the application. The account details can be found on the university intranet under "Dienstleistungszentren" or acquired directly from the advisor for DAAD Higher Education Programmes.
EU Sanctions Lists, Export Controls and Embargos
Collaborations with sanctioned organisations and individuals are not eligible for funding. Make sure that your cooperation partners are not subject to sanctions. Use the EU Sanctions Map for a quick check.
