Writing Research

The ISL is not just a teaching and consultation institution; we also run studies. Our research area comprises writing processes in schools, academia, and professional settings, as well as the teaching, learning, and consultation situations accompanying them. Currently, we have a special focus on multilingual academic wiring. The goal of all out studies is to gain empirically backed insights about said processes to feed them back into our practical work in teaching and consulting.
We have disciplinary ties to applied linguistics, intercultural German studies, language teaching and learning research, and foreign language didactics. We aim to bring these influences together to shape emerging discipline of applied writing science.
