Goal 5 – Gender equality

Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls

In order to end gender discrimination, all harmful practices and violence against all women and girls must be eliminated. It is important to recognize and value unpaid care and domestic work. Women should be able to fully participate and have equal opportunities for leadership. Likewise, Goal 5 aims to guarantee access to sexual and reproductive health and rights.
To reach these goals, reforms must be enacted that provide women with equal rights, self-determination and access to property and power of disposition. Sound policies are required.*
