Why did you apply for the fellowship?
Stephan Klasen made many important contributions to the field of development economics in general, and to the study of gender inequality in particular. These are fields that align very closely to my own research. I applied for the fellowship because I believed it will be an excellent opportunity for me to focus on my research agenda and benefit from a strong and supportive academic environment, especially in a department that honors the memory of Stephan Klasen and his commitment to mentoring early career researchers.

What would you like to achieve during the course of the fellowship?
My goals are to receive feedback on and develop existing studies under the guidance of experienced faculty at Göttingen; and to build collaborations with other early career researchers and develop formative work. I hope that at the end of the 12 months spent at the University of Göttingen, I will have learnt from my colleagues here and built a strong portfolio of policy-relevant research.

Göttingen at first (and second) sight?
First sight: At first sight, I loved how green the city is and that is pedestrian-friendly, with plenty of open spaces and most places within walking distance.
Second sight: Over the last few weeks, I have really come appreciate how helpful and cooperative people here are!

What do you do when you are not doing research?
I like to go on long walks and explore new places. Occasionally, I’ll de-stress by going to the lake and reading or listening to music.
