Near and Middle East Studies in Göttingen

Welcome to Near and Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Göttingen. At a total of four institutes, researchers and students deal with the history and contemporary phenomena of the Arab region and Islamic societies, the Persian-speaking cultural area, and the Turkish world. The four institutes share their interest in research on linguistic and cultural spaces within the Near and Middle East as well as their transformations and interactions in other regions of the world. This expertise is based on a profound knowledge of one or more of the local languages.
