SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS AND GOALS

I am interested in the process of synaptic transmission, as well as neuronal plasticity and neurodegeneration, for I find the effect these can have on the larger system extremely fascinating. My work so far has mostly involved studying the functional diversity of voltage gated calcium channels and its effects in Drosophila. In the future I am hoping to do more work in this area, focusing especially on the molecular mechanisms that regulate electrical and morphological properties of neurons and what effects these regulations have on synaptic transmission, behavior, and disease.
