New professor for Smart Services
Prof. Dr Martin Adam holds the Chair of Smart Services at the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Göttingen since 1 December 2023.
In his research, he focuses in particular on interaction interfaces between users and information systems, especially how technological innovations (such as artificial intelligence) change these interfaces and what consequences these changes have for the private and professional lives of individuals.
He explores how artificial intelligence - for example Alexa or ChatGPT - has already changed us and what we can expect from these technologies in the future: What advanced technologies (such as Generative AI or Artificial General Intelligence) can we already anticipate? How can we best prepare for them? What role do these technologies play for our productivity, our well-being or for a more responsible and sustainable society?
His research has been published in high-ranking scientific journals such as Information Systems Research, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, Information Systems Journal, European Journal of Information Systems, Decision Support Systems, Communications of the Association for Information Systems and Electronic Markets. Martin Adam is also an Associate Editor of Information Systems Journal and Electronic Markets.
Before moving to Göttingen, Prof Adam was a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Information Systems & Electronic Services at TU Darmstadt. He also completed his doctorate there in 2019 with a thesis on digital nudges. Martin Adam has also been a visiting researcher at various institutes, including Copenhagen Business School, Tampere University and the University of Massachusetts. He completed his management studies at EBS Business School in 2015 and worked in a management consultancy for a year before pursuing his academic career.
