The IRTG 2172 PRoTECT invites you to the 3rd International Plant Immunity Symposium (IPIS 2024). The symposium takes place from Monday, August 26th, to Wednesday, August 28th, in Göttingen, Germany. Additionally, the first two days of the symposium will feature poster sessions.

We aim to provide a platform for engaging discussions on enhancing plant resilience against various stressors and the opportunity to connect with postgraduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and eminent scientists from around the world. IPIS 2024 will cover a wide range of topics related to plant-microbe interactions, plant signaling, effector biology, fungal pathogenesis, secondary metabolites, and the impact of parasitic plants on host plant immunity. We especially extend an invitation to graduate students worldwide actively involved in plant immune biology to participate in the event. We encourage them to showcase cutting-edge and innovative plant biology research and to foster enriching discussions during the symposium. Participation without a poster is welcome!

Programme

Location: Tagungszentrum 'Alte Mensa', Wilhelmsplatz 3, 37073 Göttingen IPIS Guide

  • From the train station: From the train station it is just a 10 minutes walk to the 'Alte Mensa'. Leave the train station in direction to the city centre and go straight to the Goetheallee. Follow the street 500 metres while the street name changes into Prinzenstraße. When you reach the crossing pedestrian zone with the bronze statue called "Nabel" turn right and follow the pedestrian zone which is called Weender Straße. Turn left into Barfüßerstraße and follow until you reach the Wilhelmsplatz with flower beds and an equestrian statuette. The entrance to the Tagungszentrum is on the right hand side.
  • By car: Göttingen can be easily reached by car via freeway A7. Take freeway exit 73 "Göttingen" to merge onto B3 in direction "Göttingen/Rosdorf" Continue 4 kilometres on B3 until you get to a big intersection already close to the old town centre. The closest (yet chargeable!) parking lot to the Tagungszentrum is on Albaniplatz. To get there turn left at the big intersection onto Berliner Straße. Follow this and cross two more intersetions until you are on Nikolausberger Weg. Turn right into Wilhelm-Weber-Straße and shortly after right into Wöhlerstraße. Then turn right into Bühlstraße which leads to Theaterplatz. Go straight on (though it seems as if you turn left). Turn left another time into Herzberger Landstraße and immediately right into Albaniplatz where the parking lot is on the right hand side. To get to the Tagungszentrum from here go back to Herzberger Landstraße, turn left and follow the road downhill. After a few minutes walk you will reach the Wilhelmsplatz with the Tagungszentrum on the left hand side. Other parking possibilities are the car parks "Groner-Tor-Straße" (Groner-Tor Straße 31), "Hospitalstraße" (Hospitalstraße) or "am Bahnhof" (directly behind the train station). Please see for signs that point to parking areas on your way.
  • Public transport: The nearest bus stops to the Tagungszentrum are: 1) "Jüdenstraße" and can be reached via bus lines 11, 12, 22, 31, 32, 41, 42, 61, 62, 71, 72, 91, 92. 2) "Friedrichstraße" and can be reached via bus lines 50, 80, 71 and 72.
