Learning with the AI tutor

Stiftung Innovation in der Hochschullehre (Foundation ‘Innovation in University Teaching’) supports teaching projects at the University of Göttingen

Georg-August-Universität Göttingen is developing a personalised tutoring system for its students using Generative Artificial Intelligence Agent (GAIA) technology. GAIA uses generative AI to engage in personalised dialogue with students via text or voice, supporting them adaptively throughout their learning journey.

It supports students in all phases of the learning process, including preparing course content, processing tasks and learning content, and preparing for examinations. Following a pilot phase in selected courses, the system will be gradually integrated into courses throughout the university.

In the first phase, the system will be used in courses such as ‘Fundamentals of Digitalisation and Digital Transformation’ ("Grundlagen der Digitalisierung und Digitalen Transformation"), ‘AI-Supported Scientific Work’ ("KI-gestütztes wissenschaftliches Arbeiten"), ‘Statistics for Business Studies’ ("Statistik für Wirtschaftswissenschaften") and ‘VR Presentation Training’ ("VR-Präsentationstraining") at the Faculty of Business and Economics.

The Innovation in Higher Education Foundation is funding the project, which was developed by the university. Funding will be provided for a maximum of six years, beginning in October 2025: Read more (in German)
