CHAIR OF COMPUTATIONAL STATISTICS

Welcome to the Chair of Computational Statistics

In my research, I focus on the statistical modelling of sequential data driven by unobserved processes — such as animal behaviour or the dynamics of disease progression. Methodologically, my work centres on latent Markov models, particularly in continuous time, which are especially well-suited for irregularly sampled or real-time data. I greatly enjoy collaborating with researchers across disciplines — including ecology, psychology, sports science, and health research — and the challenges arising from these applications continuously inspire and drive my methodological development. I aim to build flexible, interpretable, and process-driven models that reflect the complexity of real-world phenomena, guided by the principle:

You should model the process that gives rise to the data, not shoehorn the data into a model you happen to have at hand”.

Do you have any questions?
