Professor Dr. Sebastian Günther participated in a conference at the Kairouan Islamic Studies Center in Tunisia on February 12, 2026, at the personal invitation of the center’s director, Professor Dr. al-Bashir Aballawi. The Center of Islamic Studies in Kairouan is one of the most distinguished institutions dedicated to the study of Islamic intellectual and cultural traditions.

Sebastian Günther presented a paper entitled:
“تصوّراتٌ تربويّةٌ في كتابِ رياضة المتعلِّمين لابنِ السُّنِّي (ت. 364هـ/974م): آفاقٌ مُلْهِمَةٌ لتربيةٍ ذاتِ أُفُق إنسانيّ في العصرِ الحاضر”
(“Educational Perspectives in Ibn al-Sunnī’s Riyāḍat al-Mutaʿallimīn (d. 364/974): Inspiring Horizons for a Humanistic Vision of Education in the Contemporary World.”)

During the visit, Sebastian Günther and his Göttingen colleague and staff member, Khaled Radhouani, also had the privilege of visiting the Institute of Arabic Manuscript Conservation in Kairouan, where important efforts are being made to preserve and study the region’s rich manuscript heritage.
