Events

There are four annual GSGG events designed first and foremost to help graduate candidates get to know one another.

Welcome Day
At the beginning of the academic year the GSGG invites all doctoral candidates at the Faculties of Humanities and Theology to a ‘get-to-know one another’ event. Especially international PhD students are warmly welcome.

General meeting/ Mitgliederversammlung
At the end of summer term the GSGG Annual General Meeting takes place. This platform presents an opportunity for both PhD studens and supervisors to put forward questions, criticism and suggestions on past and future GSGG activities, and to discuss them further as necessary.
In addition, doctoral delegates are elected to the Executive Committee during this event.

The GSGG Day
Every year, the GSGG invites members and guests to attend the ‘Day of GSGG’. During the course of a festive event the Christian-Gottlob Heyne Prize, carrying prize money of € 2,500, is awarded for the best doctoral thesis in the humanities over the past year.
