The Centre for Tropical and Subtropical Agriculture and Forestry CeTSAF is an interdisciplinary research centre which conducts research projects in the area of agricultural and forestry science in the tropics and subtropics. Other activities include establishing international partnerships and networks, and the organisation of international alumni activities, which are carried out in cooperation with the Universities of Kassel and Marburg. The centre is supported by 16 departments at the University of Göttingen from the Faculties of Agricultural Science, Forestry Sciences and Forest Ecology. A particular feature of the centre is the interdisciplinary work and integration between social economics and natural sciences. Research on the ecology of land use systems, recognition of the environmental contribution of agriculture and balance approaches in agricultural production processes are focal areas of interest.
