Application for admission to sit the doctoral examination

The application for admission to sit the doctoral examination, in the context of which the dissertation is submitted, is made via the online form "Application for doctoral examination".

You can also find the application in eCampus under: "weitere Dienste\Formulare\Promotionsformulare\Promotionsprüfungsantrag".

You will need the following documents for the application:

  • Thesis (PDF) [note: to be submitted digitally only.]
  • Certificate of study time (can be generated via eCampus)
  • Any publications related to the dissertation (please upload under the menu item "Documents", "Further documents (optional)"
  • If you are enrolled in one of the modularised doctoral degree programmes or in the doctoral programme "Behaviour and Cognition": Certificates of academic achievements
  • Proof of application for a certificate of good conduct (document category 0) [The certificate of good conduct is sent directly from the Federal Office of Justice to the Examination Office; therefore, please give the address of the Examination Office when applying.]
  • CV
  • In the application, at least three members must be proposed for your examination committee: first examiner, second examiner, further examiner. Therefore, please discuss the membership of the examination committee and which of the members should take the chair with your first supervisor before submitting your application.
Please note that persons who ‘only’ hold a doctorate are not authorised to examine, even if they are members of the thesis committee. They are therefore not eligible to serve on the examination board. If this is desired, an informal, reasoned request must be submitted by the primary supervisor to the doctoral committee via the examination office for the granting of individual examination authorisation, as well as the approval of the executive board of the institution responsible for the subject area.
  • Incidentally, the minute-taker of a disputation is not considered a member of the examination board and therefore does not need to be included in the doctoral examination application.
