Dr. Engel the first scientist outside of North America to receive this high distinction

At the joint annual convention of the European Business History Association (EBHA) and the North American Business History Conference (BHC) in June 2009 in Milan, the largest conference of business history in the past years worldwide, Dr. Alexander Engel, Chair of Economic and Social History, was awarded the K. Austin Kerr Prize 2009. The BHC gives the award "for the best first paper delivered at the annual meeting [...] by a new scholar [...]. Criteria for awarding the prize include scholarly excellence; innovation in subject, method, or findings; and effectiveness of presentation". With his paper entitled "Coloring markets. The industrial transformation of the dyestuff business revisited". Mr. Engel was the first scientist outside of North America to receive this high distinction.
