Graduates of the winter semester bid farewell with ceremony

Best of the year are awarded the "Florenz Sartorius Prize" in the university auditorium


With an academic ceremony on Friday, 2 June 2023, the Faculty of Business and Economics at Göttingen University bid farewell to its graduates of the winter semester 2022/ 2023. A total of 294 students graduated in the past winter semester. 176 of them completed a Bachelor's programme, 118 a Master's programme. 49 doctoral students successfully completed their doctorates during the past year.

Dean of Studies Prof. Dr. Claudia Keser welcomed the guests. Frederick Thurau spoke as a representative of the graduates of the winter semester. Dr. Jörg König also spoke as an alumnus of the faculty. He heads the Europe, Energy, Competition, Growth & Development division at the Stiftung Marktwirtschaft, a "think tank" in Berlin.

The "Florenz Sartorius Prizes" donated by Sartorius AG in Göttingen were also awarded during the event. The best graduates of the individual disciplines received a prize. The faculty honoured Celina Sarah Rohrmann (Bachelor of Science in Business), Linus Hamm (Master of Arts in History of Global Markets (Multiple Degree)), Freya Osterholz (Master of Education in Business and Human Resource Education) and Lars Wilhelmi (Master of Science in Business Information Systems) for their outstanding academic achievements.

In addition, once a year the faculty awards outstanding dissertations in business administration and economics with the "Florenz Sartorius Prize", each endowed with 1,000 euros. For her outstanding doctorate on the topic of "Agents Without Agency? Consumer Responses to Artificial Intelligence-Based Agents", the Faculty awards the prize in the subject of business administration to Dr. Nika Meyer. The first reviewer was Prof. Dr. Maik Hammerschmidt from the Chair of Marketing and Innovation Management. In Economics, Dr. Jonas Rudsinske was awarded for his doctoral thesis "Essays on International Trade, Trade Barriers, and Oligopolistic Competition". The work was reviewed by Prof. Dr. Udo Kreickemeier from the Chair of International Economcis.
