At the end of every semester, there is an official graduation ceremony for students in the Old Auditorium (Aula) of Göttingen University at Wilhelmsplatz. Doctoral candidates at the faculty are invited to attend the annual graduation ceremony in spring.

In addition to speeches by faculty members and alumni and the awarding of graduation certificates with musical accompaniment, the best graduates in the fields of business administration, economics, business education and information systems are awarded the Florenz-Sartorius Prize.

Since the graduation ceremony in autumn 2008, the faculty has also awarded this prize once a year - always during the ceremony in spring - for outstanding doctorates: On the one hand, for the best doctoral thesis from the field of "Business Administration, Business Informatics or Business Education", on the other hand for the best doctoral thesis from the field of "Economics, Statistics, Econometrics or Economic and Social History".

The prize money of 1,000 euros each is donated by Sartorius AG from Göttingen. The company is an internationally leading provider of laboratory and process technology in the segments of biotechnology and mechatronics.
