Waldnaturschutz

Welcome to the Forest Nature Conservation group!

We focus on the protection and conservation of species and communities, their habitat requirements and functions in temperate and (sub)tropical forests. In the light of globally emerging biodiversity change our aim is particularly to contribute to a better understanding of patterns, dependencies, and driving mechanisms of the distribution and structuring of biodiversity. We are particularly interested in arthropod communities, which are characterized by high species richness and important effects on many ecosystem processes. Our research is based on comparative and experimental field studies in a multitrophic context. Teaching involves courses on basic knowledge and advanced application of nature conservation informed by natural sciences.
