At the Georg August University of Göttingen, numerous scholarly editions are being compiled in a variety of disciplines. In diverse projects, researchers edit objects, sounds, music, texts, and images. Editorial science, digital humanities and digital paleography play an important role in teaching. The Forum Editorik maintains a close exchange with the Section for Humanities, Cultural and Social Sciences of the Campus Institute Data Science (CIDAS).

Göttingen State and University Library (SUB)


The Göttingen State and University Library (SUB) is a modern research library of national and international renown. With a collection of 9 million media units, it is one of the largest libraries in Germany. Its collections include manuscripts, cradle prints, rare prints and historical maps. The SUB performs extensive research and development in the areas of research data management, digitization, and digital humanities, and operates and supports the infrastructure for numerous digital edition projects.

Herzog August-Bibliothek Wolfenbüttel


The Herzog August Bibliothek Wolfenbüttel is one of the largest research libraries in Germany, focusing on the cultural history of the Middle Ages and the early modern era. Its extensive collection of manuscriptsa, incunabula, prints, graphics, paintings, maps, and modern artists' books is the starting point for numerous indexing and edition projects. The Wolfenbüttler Digitale Bibliothek (Wolfenbüttel Digital Library) provides long-term accessibility for research results. In addition to research and publications, the HAB offers a diverse cultural program with exhibitions, guided tours, workshops, and events.

As a non-university research institution, the Göttingen Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Lower Saxony promotes and networks outstanding researchers from various disciplines in the humanities and social sciences and conducts numerous long-term ediitorial and lexicographic projects in the Academies Programme.
