Dorothea Schlözer Programme "Career promotion of female scientists"

Since February 2023, the new funding tool "Career promotion of female scientists" is implemented as part of the Dorothea Schlözer Programme. It is funded by the Programme for Female Professors III) and addresses the phenomenon of the so-called "leaky pipeline" - the drop out of women with each scientific career stage. This drop-out can be found across all subjects and has only gradually decreased in recent decades.

The University of Göttingen aims to compensate for structural disadvantages of women in science and, in the long term, to increase the proportion of women at all stages of the scientific career. With this programme, the university also wants to compensate for Corona-related restrictions, especially for young female scientists with care responsibilities. Therefore, the programme supports projects or activities which are significantly improving the chances of reaching the next career stage.

Female scientists can apply for financial measures as well as time resources to enable them to provide and expand required (additional) performances within the scientific career.

The funding decision is particularly based on the maintenance and increase of the proportion of women in the respective subject area.
