A recent article by Roshan Kishore in the Hindustan Times (online) cited a study by Stephan Klasen on India’s employment gender gap. In India, while the education gap has narrowed, women are not entering the workforce in proportionate numbers. Women face several barriers, such as social stigma, cultural traditions, discrimination, and also physical barriers such as safety and transportation.
