Research Group Landscape Geoscience
The Research Group Landscape Geoscience investigates how vegetation-covered landscapes change in the context of long-term environmental change. The focus is on morphodynamic processes such as erosion, transport, and sedimentation, changes in fire regimes, and hydrological developments in lakes, groundwater, and landscape water budgets.
In this context, climatic changes, internal geomorphological and ecological system processes, and human land use are considered key drivers of landscape development. The goal is to gain a quantitative understanding of proxy and landscape systems as a base for reconstructing past environmental changes and for sustainable landscape management.
