We support young scientists

A career in chemistry typically progresses through several key stages. Göttingen Chemistry, with its top-class research groups and the collaborative environment of the Göttingen Campus, provides an exceptional foundation for young scientists at every stage of their career.

The doctoral program offers a structured framework for conducting a comprehensive scientific project as part of the GAUSS Graduate School. Alongside their research, doctoral candidates participate in thematic courses, gain experience presenting scientific results, and engage in teaching activities. More information can be found here: Doctoral program in Chemistry

The postdoctoral phase phase is typically undertaken at a different institution than the doctoral studies, providing an opportunity to further develop the research profile through one to three years of intensive scientific work. This experience is vital for pursuing an academic career and can also be highly beneficial for roles in industry or mid-level academic positions. International exchange plays a particularly important role during this stage of the career. At Göttingen, postdoctoral researchers are supported by the university’s PostDoc Network as well as a wide range of workshops and advisory services to facilitate their professional development.

After the postdoctorate, there are various qualification paths for a professorship:
