Academic Writing
Publish or perish. That is the motto that defines much of the working life of up-and-coming academics. For all their careful attention to research methodology, academics rarely discuss the nuts and bolts of writing. This workshop offers an opportunity to examine the characteristics of academic style in your discipline and develop a roadmap to improve your writing. It has a twofold focus on identifying and ironing out the kinks in your own writing strategies and on making your academic texts in English more elegant.
This workshop is designed for experienced writers with a high proficiency in English.
The workshop will be offered twice: once with a focus on writing conventions in the social sciences and humanities and once with a focus on writing in the natural sciences.
Topics:
- Academic style in different disciplines
