Protestant Religion (M. Ed) (teaching profession for secondary schools)

Master of Education students in Protestant Religion learn to initiate, support and reflect on religious education processes in schools with both scientific and didactic competence. To this end, they expand their knowledge, analytic abilities and competence of judgement in the main disciplines of theology.

In lectures and advanced seminars dealing with church history, systematic theology and religious education as well as exegetical subjects, the students further develop their skills for scientific theological work on exemplary subjects. They explore and learn subject-related didactic penetration and treatment of theological issues in an advanced seminar of religious didactics and a duly reflected, subject-related internship. The Master´s thesis can be written in any one of the theological sub-disciplines.

Completion of a Master of Education degree is the prerequisite for preparatory service (as a student teacher) for a teaching post at a secondary school.
