'Discourses of Delayed Childbearing and Childlessness'

Am Donnerstag, 12.12.2013 hält Roona Simpson (Univerity of Glasgow) einen Vortrag zum Thema 'Discourses of Delayed Childbearing and Childlessness'. Die Veranstaltung findet von 18:15 Uhr bis 19:45 Uhr in ZHG 003 (Platz der Göttinger Sieben, Göttingen) statt.

Zum Vortrag
At the beginning of the 21st century, below-replacement fertility is the norm across industrialised nations. Delayed childbirth is related to developments such as smaller family sizes and increased childlessness, all of which contribute to overall fertility decline. Declining fertility is one of a range of inter-related demographic changes seen as having socio-economic implications for social security provision, labour supply and long-term economic growth, and increasingly subject to political attention both at European and national level, as well as the focus of considerable academic and popular debate.
This lecture will consider the gendered nature of reproductive discourses, both academic and popular, and the subject positions to which these give rise.
