Usually, students of the Faculty of Economic Sciences can register until 7 days before the according exam and de-register until 24 hours before the exam.
Because the exams offered by other faculties are managed by the respective examination offices, the deadlines for registrations and de-registrations may be different to those of the Faculty of Economic Sciences. For the exact dates please see the following website:
Question: I have failed in an examination. When can I retake the exam?
Answer: Exam retakes are required only in compulsory modules. You can choose the repeat semester yourself, but please note that not every module is offered in every semester. Compulsory modules can be repeated twice, at the most. Voluntary repetition is possible in the case of elective modules. The master's thesis only can be repeated once.

Question: Which examination office is responsible for me?
Answer: Basically, only the examination office of the degree programme you are enrolled in is responsible for you. Registration and de-registration deadlines are set by the respective faculties. This means that if for example one of the examiners in the Faculty belongs to the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, then the registration and de-registration deadlines will be set by the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences.
Question: Will foreign course-related achievements be recognised towards my degree in Göttingen?
Answer: Course-related achievements, i.e. credits earned abroad will be accepted if they have been assessed as equivalent to our requirements. For an assessment, please contact the study advisors (Foreign Affairs) from the Service Centre for Students at the Faculty of Economic Sciences. Answer: Yes, all credits earned will be listed by course and lecture on the final master’s transcript.
Question: What happens if I earn too many credits?
Answer: In order to earn additional credits you have to register in person at the examination office of the faculty. It is possible to recognise 12 additional ECTS credits as "Freiwillige Zusatzleistungen" on your final master's transcript. These credits will not have any influence on the final grade.
Question: What is a diploma supplement?
Answer: A diploma supplement is an internationally recognised certificate, which includes a description of the degree programme and the German education system in addition to the individual performance of the person concerned.
