In order to complete a Master's degree in Economics at our university, it is important to know what kind of bachelor's degree you have completed. In our experience, we receive many applications from people who are not qualified for this programme. Our aim is to give you a realistic view on application requirements and chances to get an admission.

In which subject areas did you take the majority of your courses in your bachelor's degree?

We are sorry, but if you took the majority of your undergraduate courses in these areas, you are not eligible for our master's program in Development Economics.

If you took the majority of your undergraduate courses in these areas, you have a good chance of being eligible for our master's programme in Development Economics.

Development Economics refers to that subfield of Economics that deals with differences in the development of individual economies. The main focus is on developing countries, economic reasons for their underdevelopment (development theory) and recommendations for a development policy.

To meet our admission criteria, you have to meet the following admission requirements:

1. At least 60 ECTS in a bachelor's programme of 180 ECTS (or 33.33% of all your courses) have to be in Economics and/ or Agricultural Economics and/ or Econometrics.
2. These 60 ECTS have to include 30 ECTS in a bachelor's programme of 180 ECTS (or 16.67 % of all your courses) in Economic Theory, Agricultural Economics, and Development Economics.
3. Academic achievement in Mathematics or Statistics or Econometrics (in addition to the courses possibly counted above) totalling at least 12 ECTS credits in a bachelor's programme of 180 ECTS (or 7% of all your courses).

Non-fulfillment of these admission requirements leads to a rejection of your application with a probability of 100%.

In addition to fulfilling the admission requirements, a sufficiently good grade is an important qualification for a good chance of admission.
