To this end, you will analyse business processes and the success factors of platform technologies, while also gaining an understanding of project management and software development methodologies. You will also design solutions and work with modern AI technologies. The programme provides an optimal blend of up-to-date practical knowledge and essential methodologies. It is characterised by a high degree of flexibility. You can specialise as early as the Bachelor's stage. With a wide range of electives, you can explore your interests in various subject areas, such as digital health. Through lectures and seminars by industry experts, you will gain first-hand practical experience and build an excellent professional network. This prepares you ideally for entering the workforce directly or progressing to the Master's programme in Business Information Systems.
This phase, which covers the first and second semesters, will provide you with a solid foundation in business informatics, computer science, business administration, and other interdisciplinary subjects. You will also develop an understanding of the necessary mathematical and statistical methods. The course on the fundamentals of digitalisation and digital transformation introduces you to the basics of business informatics. The introduction to business thinking and practice will equip you with the tools to analyse and select business decisions. The fundamentals of computer science and programming, as well as practical computer science, will provide you with the IT skills you need for your further studies.

Specialisation in business informatics: Learning methods, deepening specialist knowledge
From the third semester onwards, you will enter the specialisation phase, which will deepen your knowledge of various aspects of business informatics. You will learn about the design and management of information systems, as well as taking a seminar on related topics.
The following modules will be covered:
Enterprise Architecture and Process Modelling: Learn how to design IT solutions for organisations and across organisational boundaries. You will learn how to document and automate collaborative tasks within organisations using IT.
Strategic IS and Data Management: Learn how to align an organisation's information systems with its objectives, and how this can inform IT deployment planning and development within the organisation. You will also be taught methods and technologies for collecting, managing and analysing data, knowledge and information.
Artificial Intelligence and Automation: Gain an overview of the various artificial intelligence methods that can be used in organisations. Consider how these can support individual employee tasks and contribute to process automation. What aspects require particular attention when carrying out these tasks?
Programming Course: Learn the fundamentals of a programming language and develop the skills to solve your first tasks independently. You can choose from a range of languages on offer.
Seminar on topics in business informatics: You will research a specific topic using academic methods, either independently or as part of a group. As well as producing a report, you will present your findings. Prior to this seminar, you will take a course on 'Academic Work with AI', which will provide an in-depth look at the fundamental methods you should apply to your seminar assignment.

WHAT OUR STUDENTS AND ALUMNI SAY ABOUT STUDYING IN GÖTTINGEN
“What I particularly like about business informatics is that the degree programme is based in several departments, which gives you a wide range of career options later on. The maths modules are also easy to do, so mathematical proofs, for example, are not as important as in pure computer science. The degree programme in Göttingen is also very well structured and organised, which helped a lot, especially in the first semesters.“
Katharina Schramm,
Bachelor's programme in Business Information Systems
“What I really like about the Faculty of Business and Economics and the University of Göttingen in general is that you are given a lot of freedom. We do have a study plan, but ultimately we can decide for ourselves when we really want to choose and take which modules.“
Shirin Lange,
Bachelor's programme in Business Information Systems
“After school, I found it difficult to assess exactly what I wanted to do when I grew up and I had a hard time deciding between business and computer science. I found the idea of combining the two specialisations into a separate degree programme super exciting. The degree programme thus has a wide range of subject areas, so that you can study the topics that really interest you in more detail. In addition, there are many opportunities to use this knowledge for interface professions and thus to bring broadly diversified knowledge into the company.“
