Staff Council
The central task of the staff council is to advocate for the social and personal interests of the employees in the context of their employment relationship and their workplace vis-à-vis the service unit. The employees’ concerns and interests are represented on a collective level in dealings with the service unit.

Human Resources Department
The human resources department has the following responsibilities:

  • matters involving the appointment and residency of professors
  • all questions of HR development
  • all matters of "traditional" HR administration, from hiring to the termination of employment contracts
  • matters of travel expenses, removal costs, and separation allowance
  • the approval of contracts for work and labor, as well as service contracts with individual persons.

The HR administration can also provide advice if there are questions about permissible activities and protection of qualifying time under the employment contract.

Family Service of the Equal Opportunity and Diversity Unit
The Family Service is the contact point for issues regarding the compatibility of academics, studies, and work with family. It assists in finding suitable day-care for children, provides support before and after birth, and informs about family-friendly measures.

Representative for disabled Persons
The representative for disabled persons is elected every four years by disabled employees and those with equivalent status. It represents the interests of and is the contact point for technology and administration employees, research associates, and lecturers at the University of Göttingen (excluding the University Medical Center) who are severely disabled or have equivalent status. The main focus of the diverse tasks is on promoting the integration of disabled persons. ()

Addiction officer
The addiction officer’s tasks include addiction prevention and addiction support at the university. He or she organizes information events and various campaigns on the subject of addiction together with internal and external cooperation partners. The addiction officer makes suggestions for promoting health and eliminating the causes of substance abuse (at the workplace). He or she supports affected employees in overcoming addiction and accompanies them during this process.

Occupational medical Service
The staff of the occupational medical service is responsible for the occupational health care of all employees at the University Medical Center Göttingen and the University of Göttingen. Students and pupils at the affiliated schools for health professions are also offered care.

Psychosocial Counseling and outpatient Clinic
It is not always possible to overcome a crisis quickly and by yourself. The counselors at the Psychosocial Counseling Center (PSB) can help you prevent a crisis from becoming an insurmountable problem. They are happy to advise you in the case of learning and work problems, excessive performance demands on yourself, fear of exams and failure, feelings of being overwhelmed, decision-making difficulties, disorientation and fear of the future, conflicts with parents or in a partnership, contact difficulties, self-esteem problems or feelings of loneliness, personal crises, addiction problems, depression, anxiety, psychosomatic complaints, workplace problems, and problems dealing with students in difficult situations.

Psychotherapeutic Advisory and Clinic for Employees
In crisis situations as well as in the case of psychological problems and illnesses, the psychotherapeutic clinic can provide low-threshold, prompt, and confidential clarification, advice, and further possibilities for action. It is responsible for all employees of the University and the University Medical Center.

Incoming Office or International Student Office, Göttingen International
The International Office takes care of enrollment, study course inquiries, and, if necessary, the acceptance agreement for foreign doctoral students. It also offers intercultural exchange events and supports international alliances.

Central Conflict Management
The Central Conflict Management (CMM) offers you a broad range of services for professionally handling conflicts as well as for mediation and conflict management in urgent conflict situations. The Central Conflict Management is dedicated to supporting conflict management at the university in order to reduce negative impacts and take advantage of opportunities arising from conflicts. In cases of conflict, the CCM’s work is confidential and subject to directives in accordance with the rules of the Mediation Law.

Discontinuation of Counseling by the GGG
Unfortunately, all GGG consultation measures, including funding guidance, general consultation, as well as the Helpdesk for international PhD students, are not staffed. We regret that these services cannot be provided at the moment due to staff shortages. Only advice on PhD programs and their application is currently offered.
