How effective are higher education teaching programs at German universities?
This question is the focus of a recent article by Prof. Deutscher in collaboration with the Mannheim Center for University Teaching. Through a quantitative meta-analysis, the study identifies small positive effects on how participating instructors perceive the quality of their own teaching. Additionally, a systematic review also shows that the introduction of the Quality Pact for Teaching in 2012 was not accompanied by sufficient effectiveness research, meaning that the question of improving teaching quality from the students' perspective in particular remains unanswered.
