Ion channels and protein pumps

We investigate transport processes across membranes using model membranes. We investigate the cooperative behavior of ion channels, such as the potassium channel KcsA and voltage-gated calcium channels, and analyze the mode of action of the antimicrobial peptide lugdunin. We elucidate with a membrane-confined photoacid where the protons for the Fo/F1-ATP synthase come from.
