ViLD – Virtual Learning Designs in Business Education

About the Project

Our goal: Promote digital teaching competencies among aspiring teachers at commercial schools and aspiring trainers in companies

Through this project, future teachers will learn how to develop digital skills for classrooms of the future. They will be enabled to (1) create virtual learning environments with a high degree of immersion. In doing so, they will develop (2) the ability to use AI mechanisms effectively for their teaching by utilizing log data in particular for the automated creation of individualized learning environments (Personalized Learning). Furthermore, future teachers will master (3) the coding of learning processes to facilitate automated evaluation processes and in-depth learning analyses (Learning Analytics) to optimally support their students in their learning process.

Our approach: Leading by example - especially in teacher training!

The topics of Virtual Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Learning Analytics are systematically integrated in the selected modules of Business Education. Additionally, a progression of three method workshops - Virtual Instructional Design, Virtual Instructional Monitoring, and Virtual Competence Assessment - are being developed. The workshops are based on working with the free web tool LUCA Office Simulation (luca-office.de), which enables the development, implementation and evaluation of AI-based instructional designs based on log data and machine learning. The workshops are offered as learning simulations in LUCA , they not only teach methodological skills (“inception approach”) but also offer virtual and AI-based learning opportunities with a model character for student project work.
