Degree programme description
The extension degree programme "Third Subject Programme (teaching profession)" is an interdepartmental programme at the Georg-August-University Göttingen. In this course students acquire in-depth scientific knowledge, the capability to independently undertake scientific work and the application of scientific knowledge to the professional field of education. By means of imparting professionally oriented knowledge and methodological-analytical capabilities, the degree programme qualifies students exclusively as a supplement to the Master's degree programme "Master of Education" or an equivalent degree, comparable to the final examination for preparatory training as a secondary school teacher in another subject and forms the basis for further studies in doctoral programmes in the subject concerned.

The following subjects can be studied in this degree programme: Protestant religion, French, Greek, Computer Science, Mathematics, Philosophy, Physics, Russian, Spanish, Latin, Italian and East Asian Studies/Chinese as a foreign language

The programme comprises 98 credits (according to ECTS), which are distributed as follows:
An exception is Italian, which only is offered as a supplementary subject and not as a Bachelor degree programme (2 subjects/teaching profession). This programme comprises 87 credits (according to ECTS). For further information, see the link in the right column.
