Course of Studies in Agricultural Sciences - in cooperation with a Chilean university
The Faculty of Agriculture started an English-language Master´s program in International Agribusiness in the winter term of 2002/03. It is run in cooperation with the University of Talca, Chile and is primarily geared toward interested applicants from South America.
The program always starts in March with a two-month intensive English class at the partner university. During the first semester, students take three modules at the University of Talca; having completed these successfully, the next two semesters are spent in Göttingen. Students take a total of ten graded modules for credit. Required classes include marketing in agribusiness, agribusiness management, financial management, world agricultural markets and trade, socio-economic or rural development and agricultural policy analysis. Students are mentored while developing and working on their research topics during this phase. They will formally propose their research plans during class break between their second and third semesters (research proposal).
Field research is done in Chile, the students´ home country or in Europe after the third semester. Every student has to present his research in a colloquium in Göttingen. The performance will be graded.
