No. 91 - 10.07.2022

Fifth Göttingen Night of Science with 420 events at 34 locations in the city area

Once again, up to 25,000 interested people visited the events of the fifth Göttingen Night of Science this weekend, which took place in summer for the first time this year. "We are very pleased that so many Göttingen residents again took advantage of the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of the research institutions at the Göttingen Campus during the fifth Night of Science," said University President Professor Metin Tolan. "I would like to thank our partners at the Göttingen Campus and all participating institutions, whose staff worked hard to make the fifth Göttingen Night of Science such a success once again."

Visitors could choose from more than 420 events at 34 locations from 17:00 to midnight, including science slams, lectures, hands-on activities, guided tours, workshops, films, concerts, experiments and interactive presentations. Whether natural sciences, humanities or social sciences, whether central or northern campus, city centre, in the research buildings of the University Medical Center, the DLR or at the external locations at HAWK and Sartorius - once again a wide range of fascinating topics was spread across the entire city area. For the first time, the University's newly opened Forum Wissen, the Göttingen Health Campus on Annastrasse, the new GWDG computer centre on the North Campus and the Academy of Sciences building on Theaterstrasse were also included as venues.

In addition to the faculties, centres, collaborative research centres, central administrative institutions, collections and student laboratories of the University, the University Medical Center Göttingen, the four Max Planck Institutes in Göttingen, the German Primate Centre, the German Aerospace Centre, the Göttingen Academy of Sciences, Sartorius AG, the University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HAWK), the PFH Private University of Applied Sciences Göttingen, the Göttingen State and University Library, the Göttingen Sociological Research Institute and the Measurement Valley association. Numerous Göttingen cultural institutions also participated in the programme.
