Calls for Experts & Consultations
Here you will find an overview of calls for experts and consultations related to European research and innovation funding. For more information, please contact our team.
Since Horizon Europe and other EU project proposals are peer-reviewed, there is a high demand for expert reviewers. Hence, the EU Commission has established a database in which potential experts can register on an ongoing basis. There are several advantages to working as an expert reviewer of EU applications:
- Acting as EU reviewer offers you background knowledge about the evaluation process, which can be useful when writing your own project proposals for research and innovation funding. It facilitates contacts to European partners, which can lead to joint projects in research and innovation.
- The EU Commission pays an expense allowance for the peer review process. If travel costs are incurred, they will be reimbursed by the EU Commission.
The following are permanent calls for experts (no deadline):
In the EU Framework Program for Research and Innovation, Horizon Europe (2021-2027), applications are evaluated by reviewers in a peer review process. You can register as an expert on the Funding & Tender Portal of the EU Commission at any time. Due to the complexity of the program, not only experts with very different technical, institutional and professional backgrounds are sought, but also those with an overview.
The goal is also to fill each panel with at least 40 percent of the gender that is underrepresented in the respective field. Since the percentage of women is often below this target, the EU Commission is constantly looking for new female reviewers. Further information on this, as well as a guide for successful registration, can be found on the website of the National Contact Point (NCP) Women in EU Research (FiF).

The Partnership for Research in the Mediterranean Area (PRIMA) is a public partnership of EU member states, Mediterranean countries and the EU Commission. It aims at developing innovative solutions for water and food supply in the Mediterranean area. Interested persons can register on the PRIMA website to be included in a database for experts. The PRIMA consortium will use the database, among other things, to identify and select suitable reviewers for the PRIMA calls for proposals.

At this point, our team draws your attention to consultations (EN) of the EU Commission. The EU Commission enables all interested parties, including researchers, to comment on planned projects. By participating in consultations, you will gain an insight into the plans of the EU Commission, which can be useful as background knowledge for your own project applications.
