Our research group focuses on the development of forest initiatives and communication tailored to social milieus, in the context of policy and governance as well as political instruments. We currently have a priority on private forest owners and society at large. We base our work on previous research on forest-related initiatives, networks and multi-level policy around the globe and in Europe. Additionally we build on experiences from inter- and trans-disciplinary research in Germany, which aimed at more resilient, climate smart forest use or management and on previous research linked to social milieus.
Current Projects:
Project period: 01.01.2023-31.12.2025
Abstract: The overall goal of this research project is to develop, analyse and implement tailored communication with groups of (small-scale) private forest owners as well as the overall society, interested in forests, belonging to social milieus (Sinus Milieus), considered as distant from traditional forestry attitudes and behaviour. With and trough an effective, milieu-oriented communication, we are enabled to create new perspectives, opportunities or modes of use and protection for our future forests in Germany. A key element for research utilisation in the project is the ongoing, close cooperation with actors from practice in transdisciplinary learning labs, for a joint development, testing and dissemination of communication concepts and measures. Additionally we publish results in scientific journals as well as in a handbook and a best-practice brochure for practice, the latter being presented in a final project event.
