Viola Deutscher is a Professor of Business Education and Digital Vocational Learning at the University of Göttingen. Prior to her current role, she served as a professor at the Faculty of Business Administration at the University of Mannheim and worked as a research assistant at the German Institute for Adult Education (DIE) following the completion of her doctorate.

Her research focuses on the intersection of vocational training and emerging learning technologies. Key areas of interest include XR-learning, AI-driven learning, training quality and drop-out prevention, as well as business didactic teacher training. Additionally, she conducts extensive research on competence diagnostic procedures in vocational education and training, particularly within the framework of large-scale assessments. In this context, she is an active member of two international OECD expert committees.

Prof. Dr. Deutscher has published extensively in high-impact journals, including Educational Research Review, Computers and Education, and Learning and Instruction. She also serves on the editorial board of the journal Vocations and Learning and is an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Training Research.
