In 2024 and 2025 (and beyond if the experience is positive), we will be conducting the research and teaching project Mixed-ReAlity ReflectionS (MARS-IE), funded by the Foundation for Innovation in Higher Education. The project is linked to teaching trips to our cooperation partner, the University of Konstanz, over several semesters as part of the Business Education Colloquium. The travelling expenses for the participating students are covered by the foundation. Students who would like to continue attending the 'classic WiPäd colloquium' or are unable to travel, for example, will receive the event in parallel in the proven format through Ms Seeber's professorship. As part of the project, a training program for reflecting on teaching using video holograms is being developed. It allows students to analyze and reflect on their own teaching practices using mixed-reality holograms. In the accompanying research, an experimental control group design is used to investigate the extent to which holographic reflections are superior, inferior, or equivalent to traditional video-based reflections — and whether holographic reflection offers added value for teaching analysis. Based on pilot results from the video lab at the University of Konstanz, a decision will be made — in collaboration with students (student council) and the relevant departments for teaching administration and media technology — on whether to introduce volumetric video technology at our university. This decision will be guided by your experiences. Data generated from the project (anonymized VR video recordings) are available for use in your theses — just reach out to us if you have ideas!
