The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Göttingen invites applications for a temporary professorship with civil servant status (grade W1 NBesO) at the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development effective at the earliest possible date:
W1 Professorship in Machine Learning in Agricultural and Food Economics (f/m/d)
The professorship will initially be awarded with civil servant status for a period of three years. After a positive evaluation, the employment contract will be extended for another three years.
We are looking for a committed and team-oriented person with an excellent and internationally visible early-career research profile in data-driven agricultural and food economics. A focus on the application and further development of data science methods, particularly in the area of machine learning, is desired and expected during the appointment at the University of Göttingen. In addition, active participation in interdisciplinary research on the transformation of agricultural and food systems is anticipated. Scientific collaborations within existing university institutions, such as the Campus Institute Data Science (CIDAS), are explicitly encouraged.
The junior professorship will contribute to teaching in the Faculty’s Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes. Experience in teaching courses in the area of quantitative methods for empirical research is desirable. The University of Göttingen is committed to research-oriented teaching.
Appointment requirements are stipulated by Article 30 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act in the most current version of that law. Details will be provided upon request.
