The Faculty of Business and Economics does very well in the current ranking of the Centre for Higher Education Development ("Centrum für Hochschulentwicklung" - CHE) of 2023 and is in the top and middle group with the evaluated fields of Business Administration, Economics and Business Information Systems (bachelor's and master's programmes). Students in particular are very satisfied with their overall study situation and rate the faculty above average in the respective student surveys: According to the CHE, the ranking is the most comprehensive and detailed university comparison in the German-speaking world, with around 120,000 students surveyed and more than 300 universities and universities of applied sciences ("Fachhochschulen") as well as dual universities and universities of cooperative education ("Berufsakademien") examined. There is no final ranking list of the participating universities. Instead, the CHE classifies the universities and universities of applied sciences etc. into three groups (top, middle and bottom groups) according to indicators and criteria it has developed itself. The results of the student survey on the study situation in general are presented for the first time this year using a 5-star scale. According to the CHE, the ranking is the most comprehensive and detailed university comparison in the German-speaking world, with around 120,000 students surveyed: www.zeit.de/che-ranking [in German] The Information Systems Research Group of the Faculty of Business and Economics is ranked 16th in Europe and 6th in Germany in the current ranking of information systems research compiled by the renowned Association for Information Systems (AIS). The list covers the regions of Europe, Africa and the Middle East. In particular, scientific publications from the last three years (2021-2023) in eight leading journals in the field of information systems are evaluated. Prof Dr Martin Adam, holder of the Chair of Smart Services at the Faculty of Business and Economics, is ranked 9th in the world ranking list based on first author publications. In the 2023 ranking of the universities with the strongest research in economics in German-speaking countries, the University of Göttingen ranks 10th - if only universities in Germany are considered, Göttingen comes in 5th place. The research performance of individual academics is also analysed. This is the result of the International Student Barometer 2022/2023 (ISB). 90 per cent of the international students in Göttingen who took part in the survey are "very satisfied" or "satisfied" overall with their living and study situation here. 92 per cent are "very satisfied" or "satisfied" with the academic teaching, 87 per cent rate their living conditions in Göttingen as satisfactory or very satisfactory. 86 per cent state that they experience an open environment in Göttingen that is friendly towards international students. Students cited career planning and the university's reputation as important criteria for choosing Göttingen University, as well as the cost of studying and living and the expectation of being able to live safely in Göttingen. The survey was conducted in October and December 2022. A total of 74 universities worldwide took part, including 38 European and 17 German universities. The ISB is considered the largest global survey of internationally mobile students. It is conducted annually by the survey company i-graduate. In order to obtain meaningful data both for the university's own evaluation and for benchmarking, at least 10 per cent of all international students at a university must take part in the survey and at least 100 people must answer the questionnaire.
