University of Göttingen Open Access Policy (incl. University Medial Centre)
Open Access is a central aspect of Open Science in order to make scientific strategies and processes accessible, comprehensible and reusable, e.g. publications, research data, teaching materials, etc. Open Access is the endeavour to make scientific literature available free of charge and permanently on the Internet with the consent of the authors and the respective publishers. Interested parties can read, download, distribute, print and copy the full texts. There should be no financial, legal or technical barriers for users other than Internet access. Authors retain control over their scientific work and have the right to have their publication appropriately recognised and cited. Better accessibility has positive effects on the perception and citation rates of publications, especially in the long term. There are various financing and licensing models for implementing open access.
