followed by a discussion on the situation in Japan, how Japan's disaster is being handled as well as reporting in the German and Japanese media







German and Japanese scholars, academics and students at Göttingen University talk about their experiences in Japan:

  • Helmut Takahiro Uchida, doctoral fellow at the Institute for Material Physics and Alumnus of Tohoku University, currently liaising with the university's management in Tohoku
  • Takanari Ideura, Japanese student union "For Japan"
  • Professor Thomas Pruschke, Institute for Theoretical Physics, in Japan at the time of the earthquake
  • Stefan Glatz, student, in Japan at the time of the earthquake






The round of talks will be moderated by Professor Hiltraud Casper-Hehne, Vice President of Research and International Affairs, Göttingen University.

The musical accompaniment of the event will be provided by the Berlin musician, Dietmar Herriger, who plays the shakuhachi, a traditional Japanese bamboo flute.

Interested attendees will have the opportunity to talk with event participants and personally ask questions.
