The City of Göttingen´s Alien Office
EU students and those from EFTA countries and the USA do not need a visa for their stay in Germany. It is sufficient for them to present proof of financial resources. Erasmus students may obtain a statement concerning their status from their faculty advisor or from International Student Services.
Citizens of all other countries who would like to study in Göttingen must obtain a visa, usually through a German Embassy or Consulate General in their home countries.
A student visa may be applied for once the university has issued a letter of admittance to the student. International Student Services, Wilhelmsplatz 4, 37073 Göttingen evaluates the international applicants´ academic documents and issues admittance documents.
