Smart Card for Guests
A guest card is issued to individuals who are neither employees nor students at the University of Göttingen, but who are to be issued with a card due to their activity at the Georg-August-Universität.
These may be visiting scholars, doctoral students, scholarship holders and lecturers who are granted a card for a limited period of time to use certain services at the university, such as access to university buildings, cashless payment in canteens and library access (SUB Göttingen).
To apply for a guest card, you first need a GWDG guest account. This is created by your institution's or faculty's IT department. The card must be requested by an authorized person (from the respective area or department) in the Workflowcenter Lucom. The GWDG guest account details must also be entered on the application form:

Once your guest card has been issued, you can use your GWDG guest account to access SUB Göttingen's digital resources from anywhere via eduVPN or SAML/Shibboleth. Your guest card also serves as your SUB Göttingen ID, enabling you to access further SUB Göttingen services on site. You can request a password using the ''Request new password''function on the SUB website.
The costs, currently €15 per guest card, are charged to the applying institution.
