How can I get a place to study?
You have decided on a degree course and now want to know how to get a place to study at Göttingen University?
First you need to clarify whether you have chosen a course of study with restricted or open admissions. You can find that out on the page “Degree programmes from A to Z”.
If it is a course of study with restricted admissions, an application is necessary – you can find out how to do that here. If the course has open admissions, you can enrol directly for the course; guidelines for this can be found on this page. If you want to apply for Medicine or Dentistry, you can find an overview here. For international prospective students, we have put together information here.
In addition, you need to check whether you need to fulfil certain language requirements, whether you have the necessary university entrance qualification for the desired course and whether you belong to a category of applicants for which there are particular regulations in the selection process (z. B. e.g. those changing universities, lateral entry candidates, those doing voluntary service, prospective students from nations outside the EU).
In order not to have any nasty financial surprises when you start studying, it is advisable to think in advance about how to finance your studies and to consider the question of accommodation.
